The perfect guide for Virgo Season

                            A Young Saint  |  John William Waterhouse (English, 1849 - 1917)

The Season of the practical, humble, and intellectual Maiden is upon us.

So, I’m aware that during Leo & most of this Season I didn’t write very many articles, but that’s partly due to being more busy and also not taking as much alone time or to sit down and write.

I’ve personally been working on connecting to the energy of Virgo as my North Node is in Virgo, and it’s an energy I’m noticing I really need in my life to feel grounded.

So, let’s dive into this energy deeper together!

Here’s what I’m covering in this article:

  1. Understanding Virgo, the Maiden.

  2. What to expect

  3. Your questionnaire

  4. 5 tips for moving through this Virgo Season

  5. An interest note (bonus!)

Understanding Virgo, the Maiden.

Virgo is a mutable Earth sign and transitions the season of Summer into Autumn/Fall.

Virgo is the Earthy maiden who governs health and wellness as well as service. The season of Virgo spans from about August 23 to September 22 and is ruled by the planet of communication, Mercury.

Constellation wise, Virgo has the largest constellation in the sky. The mythology of Virgo is associated with the virgin goddess Astraea, daughter of Zeus and Themis, who ruled justice, innocence, purity, and precision. When the gods fled to Olympus at the end of the Silver Age, she was the last immortal to abandon Earth.

Virgo energy is very

  • Methodical

  • Clean

  • Service orientated

  • Health & wellness obsessed

  • Mind-body connection

  • Orderly

  • List maker (literally perfect birthday presents are stationaries)

  • Critical eye

  • Attention to detail

  • P-E-R-F-E-C-T-I=O=N=I=S=T=I=C

What to expect

Virgo is notoriously a perfectionist. She is probably the most critical sign of the zodiac.

As a mutable sign, her energy can be very chaotic mentally, which is what she is seeking to control.

Chaos maybe not be how you would imagine it. With Virgo it looks like constant overthinking and nit-picking every single detail to tailor into the vision in their mind, which is nothing short of perfection.

The issue here is that perfection is not only unrealistic, it's not possible in the sense that Virgo is looking for flawless perfection that doesn’t allow for natural human error and human imperfections.

Funny enough for an earth sign, Virgo needs to make sure her mental energy is connected to the Earth.

When her roots are stable, she does incredibly well organizing and structuring, usually material things like in a home or a business, to bring greater flow and efficiency.

A good energy for her to connect to is to understand that her sharp mental energy is here for her to make life easier and also strengthen the foundations of what already exists.

So don’t overcomplicate it and allow yourself to let things be easy.

FUCKING RELAXXXXX! And let go of that control! You’ll survive.

Your questionnaire

  1. What are you overly critical about yourself and your life on?

    • Make a list, and then add some positive affirmations and nurturing somatic practices.

  2. How can you be structured and grounded in your daily life?

    •    This looks like routines and habits.

  3. What's an honest check in with your health looking like?

    •   Let's be real, it can probably improve, so do it.

  4. Where can you bring in more organization into your life?

    •   Starting from that pile of laundry and cluttered work space.

  5. What's self-care looking like?

    • Giving yourself love when you see so much that can be improved is deeply healing

  6. Why are you so obsessed with becoming perfect?

    • Not always, but sometimes Virgo is overcompensating externally by achieving all the standards for an inner lack of acceptance or motivated by a wounding of never good enough.

5 tips for moving through Virgo Season

1. Don't allow analysis paralysis to stop you.

  • Mutable seasons, like Virgo, are the seasons where our actions can feel blocked and stunted because the energy isn't as grounded. And even though Virgo is an Earth Sign, she is notorious for her overly analytical nature which impedes her movement forward.

2. Don’t be a perfectionist.

  • Allow yourself to make mistakes. Seriously you’re doing good enough as you are right now.

3. Embrace being human

  • Cause humans are messy, and there’s something beautiful amongst the mess that you try so hard to control. Ties in with number two.

4. Tend your inner garden home daily

  • Your life is built upon your habits. If your parent didn’t push you to take care of your inner self and home so it became habit, it’s up to you now. Its really the mundane little daily habits that are going to create your wellbeing and health in life.

5. Be a little nicer, bii

  •  It's called compassion.

  •  Anyone who will notice flaws and imperfection right away like the critical eyes of Virgo, needs to cultivate some compassion.

An interesting note

If you look up Virgo and her mythology, you will find that interestingly enough, she does tend to have other associations and origins of mythology with her that can get confusing. Some of those being; Persephone, the goddess of spring and the underworld (I personally disagree, she reminds me of Scorpio), her mother Demeter; the goddess of harvest, and Dike, a goddess of justice.

There is also some debate that Chiron, the wounded healer, is her modern ruler.

You can do your own research to make up your mind. It’s really worth it’s own article some day.

My personal opinion is that Mercury does suit her well because for an Earth Sign she is very mentally influenced in typical air energy ways. Her Virgo energy is orientated to process information and sort that out into an organized structure and flow that is mercurial in nature.

Ceres was recommended as her ruler, and I prefer to consider Ceres as a potential new rulership rather than Chiron. Such as Pluto is a dwarf planet now but rules Scorpio, so is Ceres. But this is just astrological debate now, haha. Opinions always differ, just know that Mercury rules Virgo and although it may seem odd at first glance, dig deeper and you’ll see why.

That’s all, folks

I've been enjoying going through this handy manual every season, hope you are as well!

How are you enjoying Virgo Season?

XOXO

P.S. I had this basically written up in August and meant to post in September, but staying true to the season of Virgo’s nitpicking energy, I didn’t post! And now we’ve missed our season and are into the next Libra season. So, in an example of embodiment, I’m having compassion for myself and letting myself finish it anyways :)
